SphereCam: Underwater Camera Trap

The SphereCam is an acoustically-triggered underwater camera trap. It contains 6 cameras oriented on the faces of a cube, which afford a 360°x360° view of the surrounding environment. When a vaquita vocalizes nearby, it begins to record a video for a period of time dependent on the proximity of the vaquita.

Waterproof Copter

The Mariner waterproof copter is an off-the-shelf platform that has been customized for aerial monitoring of vaquita. It is fully watertight, which allows it to land and take off from the ocean. It has been outfitted with a waterproof gimbal and a GoPro Hero 4, which allows it to record 4K aerial video.
