Info session will be held at CSE 1242 on October 10th at 4 PM! Engineers for Exploration is a one of a kind program that develops intelligent systems that aid research in conservation, cultural heritage, and exploration. We work closely with archaeologists, biologists, ecologists, and marine scientists to create technologies that aid them in their scientific research. Applications range from determining population counts for endangered animals and studying animal behavior to capturing large-...Summer 2023 Final Presentations

This summer, we are hosting 19 students from around the US in our 2023 summer research program at UC San Diego. We’ll be working on measuring fish length with lasers, building Smartfins, classifying bird calls, and tracking radio signals. Meet our students by reading their bios below: Student Researchers Sean Perry is a co-project lead of the Acoustic Species Identification team and a 4th year Math-Computer Science undergraduate student with a minor in Data Science. He has ...Introducing Next Generation of FishSense

We’d like to introduce the next generation of our FishSense System. FishSense is a camera platform that aims to estimate the mass of fish visible in an image, using a combination of species identification and automatic length measurement. Now, to meet these goals, we present our FishSense-Lite and FishSense-Pro systems. Our previous system leveraged an Intel RealSense D455 stereo camera to measure the length of fish, but the lack resolution in both the RGB and depth streams of this camera br...Spring 2023 Info Session
